So another FA Cup weekend is in the books and what a weekend it was. So many giant killing upsets, all that is the glory of the FA Cup. You try telling Sutton United of the National League that the FA Cup doesn’t mean as much as it used to, they’ll slap you.
It all started on Friday when Darren Bent scored AGAIN. This one was in the wrong goal but it’s still his goal. Leicester managed to come away with a replay. Derby will feel like they let this one slip away. The game finished 2-2.
Saturday threw up a few suprises. None more so than Wolves beating Liverpool 2-1. Liverpool have had a really poor start to the calendar year but this tops it off. Klopp needs to do something and fast because before he knows it he’ll be under a lot of pressure.
Oxford United demolished a labouring Newcastle United who looked like they forgot how to play football. However, take nothing away from Oxford who were brilliant on the night.
Lincoln somehow managed to kill off Championship high flyers Brighton. This game finished 3-1 to the Imps. Hopefully they get an even bigger tie in the next round as they deserve it.
The rest of the results on Saturday were:
Crystal Palace 0-3 Manchester City
Middlesbrough 1-0 Accrington Stanley
Blackburn Rovers 2-0 Blackpool
Chelsea 4-0 Brentford
Burnley 2-0 Bristol City
Tottenham Hotspur 4-3 Wycombe Wanderers
Rochdale 0-4 Huddersfield Town
Southampton 0-5 Arsenal
Sunday was another crazy day that was a brilliant advert for the FA Cup. In another unbelievable fairytale story Sutton United managed to turn over Leeds United after their captain scored the only goal of the game from the spot 1-0.
Millwall beat Premier League Watford 1-0, Fulham beat Premier League Hull City and Manchester United avoided the theme of the weekend by smashing Wigan Athletic 4-0.
All in all a crazy weekend of football. On to round 5!
